The German Chamber of Commerce Rhineland organized an „e-Marketing Day“ last week at the venerable Borussia Mönchengladbach football stadium. It was the third event of this kind and aims to foster the understanding and importance of digital marketing for local small-and medium sized business. Located in the Borussia business lounge it featured guest speakers and local service providers specializing in social media and digital marketing. In the past I have heard local business owners saying that social media works only for big corporations. The reasoning behind belief is that the customers know the shops in the area; everybody can walk by (and in), word spreads fast in the community.
